This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies carscene.au and portal.carscene.au use, and how to turn advertising cookies off. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
These keep the sites working: signing you in and keeping you signed in, security checks that stop spam and abuse (Google reCAPTCHA), and remembering choices you make, such as your advertising cookie setting. The sites cannot work without them, so they cannot be turned off.
Google Analytics counts visits and the pages people use, so we know which events, clubs and features people want and can improve them. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses.
Tags from Meta (the Meta Pixel and Conversions API), Google (Ads and AdSense) and TikTok (the TikTok Pixel) set cookies or similar identifiers so we can measure whether our adverts work and show CarScene adverts to people who have visited before. Google AdSense also shows adverts on some pages. The tags record the pages you view (such as an event, with its city and state, or a club, venue, business or organiser page) and actions such as signing up, claiming a page, registering an organisation or RSVPing to an event. Like any website request, they receive your IP address and browser type.
We never send these companies your name, email address, phone number or CarScene account. They handle this data under their own privacy policies and may store it outside Australia, including in the United States. These tags do not run for search engine crawlers or link preview robots.
The choice is saved in your browser, covers both carscene.au and portal.carscene.au and is not linked to your account, so set it on each browser you use. With advertising cookies off, no Meta, TikTok or Google advertising tag loads, Google Analytics counts visits without advertising features, and any Google adverts you see are not personalised. You can also opt out at Google Ads Settings, Meta's Ad Preferences, TikTok's ad settings or www.aboutads.info. Your browser settings can also block or delete cookies, though signing in needs the essential ones.
